Steve Koelling

Even with the many obstacles this band seems to run into, we keep moving forward in the studios, writing and recording. Although Donovan Francis has recently departed from the band due to his hectic work schedule and his upcoming marraige, he did come into the studios and lay most of the bass tracks for the oepning track "With these hands" and the song is expected to be released for it's debut on DementiaRadio some time in early July. Koelling's insistence on breaking a finger every few months has also played a huge role in the delay, but the splint should be coming off within a few weeks and, after Donovan's final tracks are layed, the keyboard parts are scheduled to be finished shortly thereafter.

With "With these hands" close to being finished, the band is beginning to move forward and completing the writing of the second, third and forth songs (all of which have the verses, choruses and major melodies worked out already). Once these songs are complete, the album will begin taking shape, and soundbytes (only partial versions) from those tunes will be uploaded onto the site for the fans to listen to.

The music is only part of the goals for the band in the upcoming months. The artwork, which plays a huge role in the storyline and making the CD a complete package, is on the drawing board, and Steve Koelling, Shaun Hawk and Dave Hatlee have been exchanging phone calls for several weeks, discussing the direction of the art. Shaun Hawk is flying out to the West Coast to meet with Koelling over the weekend of June 21st, upon which they will be going over the details and discussing them with Hatlee over the phone. The art team is hoping to finalize all of the details during this time and plans on actually launching the project forward immediately. Hatlee has been working on the layout for the front cover and has been doing research for several months now, all the while taking pictures to capture some of the magic that the art team will be using to come up with the final product.

The band's webmistress, Sue Fleming, has also been working on tying the theme of the upcoming album into the website and has several ideas that will make esucarys.net the place to go for the fans to begin living the story of Shadows of the Past before the album is even released. Altogether, the band, the art team and Sue are starting to push things forward, and the light at the end of the tunnel is coming into view.
